Below you will find the three extra credit projects for English 9A. Each project offers students the opportunity to earn extra points to help boost their grades as well as encourage them to further explore potential interests and expand their knowledge and skills. These extra credit opportunities will require a significant amount of time and effort, so they are not something a student can throw together last minutes. All students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. If a student is interested in submitting a project, they need to see Mrs. Love for details.
user Manual Technical writing
To complete this project, a student (or students) will create an imaginary invention and write a user manual for it. This manual must include a description of the invention, detailed instructions of how to use it, basic Q&As, and appropriate warnings. Click on the downloadable PDF document below for the assignment instructions, related documents, and grading rubric.
Logical fallacies music video composition
To complete this project, a student (or students) will create a full length music video teaching 15 fallacies learned in class. This music video must include definitions as well as examples.
another's newspaper Journalism
To complete this project, a student (or students) will create a newspaper based off of a different time and from a different country. This news paper must include a headline story, additional articles, a review, pictures, and ads.
A student may only submit ONE extra credit project per trimester. All extra credit projects will receive a letter grade, so simply completing the project will not earn a student all of the potential points. Students may work together on an extra credit project, but the total points earned will be split among the participates. If Mrs. Love's deems a student's contribution to a group project superficial or unsubstantial, they will not receive credit. A student may not submit an extra credit project if they are missing 10 or more regular assignments the date of their submission. All projects must be submitted approximately one month before the end of the trimester.
